7.05. Give a fair hearing to the opinions, concerns, or complaints of a colleague.


In the process of our workshop we had several colleagues from our university to help us with our work. Our team members are completed with old-boys and girls of the school, Industrial people(SE) and undergraduates. Specially all are UCSCians. Many of them had different and creative ideas and experience about the work we did there. Some even gave good opinions that even made the working more efficient. Some ideas were regarding the syllabus and how to teach them. And also some ideas related about increase their determination and self-confident to reached their own goal of their life.

5.05. Ensure realistic quantitative estimates of cost, scheduling, personnel, quality and outcomes on any project on which they work or propose to work, and provide an uncertainty assessment of these estimates.



We did our best we could in the workshops.Because we only have few days to cover whole syllabus. Before we go to school we inform them to what we are going to do and what we hope to cover through the  teachers. So by this we made them clear about our goals and it even made them motivate on their work with us. Actually we needed to have a good communication with them so that it would help us to reach them with much confidence and success. Also we planed everything before we go there and divided the part of workshop with team members for better outcome. We were able to work all day starting from 9.00 am to 5.00pm which helped us a lot in covering our syllabus.

1.07. Consider issues of physical disabilities, allocation of resources, economic disadvantage and other factors that can diminish access to the benefits of software.

This was not software project and it was a project with related to human beings we had to take good care of what we do.When we conducting we have to consider about resources, economic factors and social factors as well. Most of children did not have computer at home. And also their knowledge in IT field is not enough. In the workshop we tried to give our maximum for the students to improve their knowledge and also the fear about IT field. 



allocation of resources was also at a limited situation.School had just only a laboratory and few computers and also limited network coverage with limited internet facility. So we had to take our own electronics in order to give them the best we could. Some things could be taken from the school but we didn't force them to get them to us since there were few resources they have and several legal issues that couldn't surpass.

3.03. Identify, define and address ethical, economic, cultural, legal and environmental issues related to work projects.

When we categorize the above issues which are related to our project, Before we go to the school we request a letter from principal of Bandaranayake Central Collage, Veyangoda and we given that letter to CompSoc secretary and got confirmed to do our workshop at Veyangoda. Also we had to go through a proper procedure in order to conduct these workshops and we contacted the school on behalf of our university. And also we have to gain access to their premises and other materials like projectors, Mike, Speaker, Papers and Posters. And also we have to provide some printed papers according to their GIT pass papers. Then we have to get permissions for the above time slot of the above day from Principal of VCC. So that we have to handle all functions of  ethical, economic, cultural, legal and environmental issues. 

2.01. Provide service in their areas of competence, being honest and forthright about any limitations of their experience and education.

As we know that our workshop held in a school and we all know that the situation of school. Advanced level and Ordinary level students are not consist at the workshop. Their mind can go anywhere in the workshop. So that our main task is keep on their minds in the lesson. So we all design our presentation user-friendly way and present our presentation without boring. So that we used some video clips to play in the presentation and also told some funny story about university life for improve their mind to select to university.  That is the way we used to present our presentation consistancy and also we our team members went to the crowd of student and talked friendly with them and solve the problems with them in the lesson.So they had nothing impossible if they wanted to do something. Even if it is hard they tried their best to understand what we did. So it made us really help them in their areas competence.

1.08. Be encouraged to volunteer professional skills to good causes and contribute to public education concerning the discipline.


Before we went to School we care about the public education  discipline. So that we have to work with Principal,Teachers and students and work with professionally for better outcome. Then we were so enthusiastic about our work towards them that we really tried our best to work for the simpler time we get . The school is situated at Wadurawa Railway Station-Veyangoda, and we were in the university premises through out the year. we had to make efforts coming from Colombo to Veyangoda paying our own money for our transport and other costs .But in our minds the only thing we had was the laugh and the thankful faces when we leave the school premises finishing our days work. They became so thankful that they calling us "Thank you aiya", "Proud to be an Centrallian". That is the thing we have earned and never forgot.

1.01. Accept full responsibility for their own work | GIT Workshops for IT Students

Software Engineers should be able to accept the full responsibility for their own work. In our project we had to work with the  Bandaranayake Central Collage-Veyangoda and  Computer Science Society of University of Colombo (CompSoc). When we were teaching school children, We have to consider about their mind and also given the idea of Information Technology is proper user-friendly way. Because of School children which  we were targeted Advanced Level and Ordinary Level student's , was our targeted audience. So we had to be sure that we deliver a high quality product through our workshop as well as that we are responsible for the product that we are delivering.

    And also we are considered about what we are going to teach them before we went to the school. So that we were divided our tasks with our members of workshop and studied well about  our own task and create the presentations as well. And also we got help from other workshop planer's how to done our task full accurately and efficiency. After every workshop we discussed everything what we were done in the workshop and also got feedback from the students and teachers. That Feedback is best thing for us to get correct decision about how we should do our workshop and even better than last one. 

Our team members have their own specific field to get full responsibility of their own work and deliver their maximum to the students in Bandaranayake Central Collage Veyangoda.

Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice 

GIT Workshops for Advanced Level Students - How We Adhered to the Code of Ethics

The short version of the code summarizes aspirations at a high level of the abstraction; the clauses that are included in the full version give examples and details of how these aspirations change the way we act as software engineering professionals. Without the aspirations, the details can become legalistic and tedious; without the details, the aspirations can become high sounding but empty; together, the aspirations and the details form a cohesive code.

 Software engineers shall commit themselves to making the analysis, specification, design, development, testing and maintenance of software a beneficial and respected profession. In accordance with their commitment to the health, safety and welfare of the public, software engineers shall adhere to the following Eight Principles:

1. PUBLIC - Software engineers shall act consistently with the public interest.


2. CLIENT AND EMPLOYER - Software engineers shall act in a manner that is in the best interests of their client and employer consistent with the public interest.


3. PRODUCT - Software engineers shall ensure that their products and related modifications meet the highest professional standards possible.


4. JUDGMENT - Software engineers shall maintain integrity and independence in their professional judgment.


5. MANAGEMENT - Software engineering managers and leaders shall subscribe to and promote an ethical approach to the management of software development and maintenance.


6. PROFESSION - Software engineers shall advance the integrity and reputation of the profession consistent with the public interest.

7. COLLEAGUES - Software engineers shall be fair to and supportive of their colleagues.


8. SELF - Software engineers shall participate in lifelong learning regarding the practice of their profession and shall promote an ethical approach to the practice of the profession.

Introduction || About Me


Our projects main intention was to be improve self-confident and the knowledge about Information Technology .Veyangoda Bandaranayake Central Collage is our targeted school which situvated near Wadurawa railway station in Veyangoda. Our Targeted audience are more than five hundred of Ordinary level IT students and Advanced Level GIT students. So that we have to conduct our workshop well planed manner. So what we did was ,we discussed with the Principal and IT teachers about our idea and goals.It's really hard to manage this kind of workshop for hundred of students with few resources.But our team members know their responsibility and they did their work with real time.We have to work hard with time and limited resources.Finally we succeeded. So this describes how we adhered to the Code of Ethics in order to make our effort a success.
